Ah! Be VERY careful with the velcro closures on a kilt that is too small. I... ahem expanded... beyond the size of my thrifty. I was able to stretch it and make it fit. which was all well and good, until I took it off, and found that the velcro had pulled the fabric of the shirt I had tucked in. Shirt is pretty much ruined now. It was smooth fabric but the side is riddled with serious pulls, and looks REALLY bad. Still ok with a kilt, but with a pair of pants that wears lower on the hips, it is obvious and looks horrible.
If you get extra velcro, fine, but also get another piece to put over the part that is exposed.
