By way of comparison, would you wear a cummerbund *and* waistcoat with a tux? Probably not....

The way I understand it, and I could be wrong, is one waist-item only. So one of a) belt, b) cummerbund, or c) waistcoat. Adding more than one, and certainly all three, would just look ridiculous.

Exactly.
Same principle applies to belt *or* suspenders/braces, but not both at once.

Bravo, you have it!
Only one item from the waist accessory column when ordering your formal outfit.
As I have a sporran with a fancy cantle that matches a waist plate I could see wearing it with my formal jacket (sans vest).

I think that is nicely stated and makes sense. Thanks!

Ayin,
Also remember in a martini
It is either 1 olive or 2 cocktail onions!

LOL. Does that math continue as you add olives? If you normally put 3 Olives in your martini, should you use 6 Cocktail onions instead if you're out of olives?

Ayin,
Maybe it is best that you don't drink gin
Cheers

Then there's the Creole Scream debacle:
4 cl white rum
2 cl dry vermouth
1 dash Angostura® bitters
1 cl grenadine syrup
1 green olive or is it 2?
Lord Brett Sinclair vehemently disaproves of 2 olives whereas Danny Wylde suggest 2 so that they can "gently bounce up against each other", "Why bust up a pair?"
Jamie whom is correct?
