Well, Heath, you have to keep in mind most of those folk are not conveners for clans, they're members of the Society of Scottish Armigers, and some few of them are Scottish Barons. (I know one personally, and have been introduced to the Hon. Mr. Squire.)

I'm sure that they shed those coats and ties as soon as they could after that photo was taken. (Looks like it was for the opening ceremony on Saturday. See the bands at the far side of the field lining up for mashed, er, massed bands. )

You are right about the timing of the photo. Never understood why they call it the opening ceremony when it takes place in the middle of the day. Yes, most do look their best for the opening ceremonies and the parades. I wasn't suggesting that these gentlemen hosted clan tents, but they are Scots who dress very nicely for the event. And I have to say I like the look of those beaver sporrans.

I will be bringing a Clan Barclay tent to Glasgow this season. Before I worked in the tent for the Highland Rim Scottish Society. If you attend this year, please stop by and introduce yourself.

Yes, the SSA is well represented in that photo taken at the Glasgow Games. I was there, too, and I can assure you that the tweed jackets came off pretty quickly after the Opening Cremonies.

Of note in the photo is the man on the front row, right. He is the Procurator Fiscal of the Court of the Lord Lyon, George Way of Plean.

    I.

Those aren't beaver mask sporrans, actually. They are muskrat, or musquash as they are sometimes called. I'm not visible in the photo at Glasgow, but I was wearing my otter mask sporran.

Sorry for the error. They are nice however. I hope the SSA will be returning to Glasgow this year. And if you come, Sandford, I hope we get a chance to meet.

Captmac usually wears a clan logo shirt and always a MacKenzie tartan kilt. I wear either a MacKenzie tartan skirt, or something scottish looking, depending on the weather.

For those of you who haven't heard the song, try to find The Clan Tent Caveliers. It's great.
