Man, Alan, I feel a little bad right now. I feel like I am taking advantage or your extensive knowledge and wasting your time on these frivolous questions. I appreciate your help.

nah, but dude, you can figure all this out yourself. You don't need me.
Just look closely at pictures of kilts on this board, THINK about how a kilt is made, and put it together in your mind. If you do that, you will, in fact come to a more thorough understanding about how they're made and will be that much wiser of a customer.
Go look at pictures of sportkilts, and figure out how much fabric goes into a sportkilt, keeping in mind that most kilts have a drop from waistband to "hem" or selvedge of 22 - 24 inches. It's easy.
