The Standing Council has an AGM and luncheon, usually the same day as Her Majesty's Garden Party at Holyrood House. The ongoing work of the Council is conducted by various committees, and their efforts coordinated and recorded by the Secretary of the Standing Council.

Yes, exactly. "Homecoming" is actually quite a commercial enterprise and there were many chiefly objections in the early days. There's no profit in what they do for the chiefs and many of them felt that they were being taken out of a closet and dusted off to someone else's benefit. That's no doubt still true to a large extent, but the chiefs have decided to take advantage of the largest ever assembly of themselves to see if something can be done for the concept of clanship in the 21C.
