I won't bore you with production background. ...but I could.

Oh! I meant to say, 'yes!'.

The recent stuff has been a lot of fun.

Good call! (on both points ) I think they have altered the 12 generation canon. At least that was the impression I got when the Doctor was talking about regeneration. I can't remember if it was Christopher's or David's Doctor. The impression that I got was he just keeps regenerating (till the series is canceled for good) Anyway, the show has clearly showed the Master regenerating and he was supposedly at or beyond his 12th gen. during the Peter Davidson era. The way the show has been going in this latest incarnation; that is one point I will gladly overlook.

    Slips on geek hat

Ah, but at the time of the fourth doctor, the Master was barely holding on to the end of his last regeneration, until he stole the body of Tremas. I have to admit, I haven't been following closely enough to determine what has happened recently.

And Jamie, a highlander, did wear a kilt and was the companion of the second Doctor.

(another geek hat?) Ah, but there was one episode in which the Master nearly destroyed Gallifrey, and in the process released huge amounts of some form of energy, which restored his body.

Btw, I started watching the series in the mid-70's when it was first shown in the U.S.A. Tom Baker was the current Doctor at the time, and it was several years before I got to see the prior two. But I do recall Jamie being with him, as well as Leila. Did he pop up with the second Doctor?

    Where to begin???

Actually, the trouble will be knowing when to stop!

Tom Baker was the Fourth Doctor. Jamie never traveled with him on screen, though you are right about Leela. If you remember a kilted fellow with Tom Baker, if was mostly likely either a Two Ronnies/Doctor Who mash-up in your head (or maybe a Dave Allen/Doctor Who mental mash-up), or you are recalling Terror of the Zygons, which took place in Scotland and featured Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart in a kilt, which was not his usual attire.

Why, no... I do get out of the house, why do you ask???

    I've said too much, haven't I?

Oh, you're right! I keep forgetting the 2nd Doctor! But I did see some episodes where Jamie appeared with Tom Baker. I guess it never clicked that he was being brought back for several episodes, as sometimes happened with other former companions.

    OOOh!!

Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart, and in a kilt - oh my goodness, be still my beating heart!!

I must have missed that one - there was quite a long time when I did not have a TV, so it could have been on then.

It is a pity that the policy was not to rerun old Doctors - though I was surprised to see the previous Doctor with Rose on TV this last week. Maybe the agreement is altered from what it was, for the last few Doctors.

Perhaps you saw a story from the 80s called The Two Doctors, where the Second Doctor and Jamie crossed paths with the Sixth Doctor (played by Colin Baker, no relation)....

    Yes, I know too much.

As always, it is pleasant here in The Village, however....

    Be seeing you!
