The yellow/white every 5th pleat also helps to balance it out. It'll do for down the pub.

I agree... it's probably completely random pleating (we'd have to order another to see for sure) but, I think it somewhat artistic nonetheless: kinda like a fractal or some such other 'natural' phenomena observed by chance. A nice looking kilt!
