I wonder if I might request that they be big enough to download and examine at leisure?

Sorry I hadn't gotten back to you on this. I've been blindsided at my end but will get them posted in a couple of hours (or sooner).

    More Penicuik sketches:

    Hello all,
I just happened to be flipping thru another book by Stuart Reid & ran across some more Penicuik sketches, including the one of Gordon of Glenbucket. I'll post them (w/Reid's comments) below.
    Enjoy!
    =+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=

Left-handed Highlander. Like most gentleman, as distinct from ordinary clansmen depicted by the artist, he wears trews rather than a plaid.

An elegant but unnamed Highland gentleman in trews.

    a Highland sentry.

John Gordon of Glenbucket. The sketch corresponds w/ other eyewitness accounts describing him as bent over with rheumatism and riding a grey Highland pony. (note: unfortunately if I attempt to enlarge this sketch it looses all detail...sorry.)

Alexander MacDonald of Keppoch, killed at Culloden.

Some very scruffy looking British regulars...such illustrations of soldiers' actual appearance on campaign are very rare indeed.
