Giving this a shameless bump, the festivities begin next Wednesday 23rd when Clan Scott have their welcome dinner and entertainment at the start of their gathering in the Scottish Borders. I am booked to go on the Scott country bus tour next Thursday, to host the Clan Cunningham booth at the Muster on the Saturday and then to attend the Sunday barbecue, though there are lots of other events also taking place. The Muster is receiving a lot of publicity throughout this area, as a Scot I have heard far more about this one compared to the relative lack of advance publicity here for the Edinburgh gathering. From a lowland and border clan perspective this looks set to be a highlight of Homecoming Scotland 2009 to equal the Burns 250 festivities in Dumfries back in January.

For those with Highland roots there is the Highland Homecoming 2009 next month, with over a hundred events taking place from 19th to 31st October, centred around Inverness, so if you are still thinking of visiting Scotland in Homecoming Year it is still not too late.

It doesnt seem as though theres one main event within the highland events... it's all music venues on different days and other events seperated from one another.
It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom -- for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.
