Please remind me what a Barathea is. I always get confused by these terms.

Plus I'm curious, for those clergy in Scotland who don't use liturgical robes, what is the usual form of dress for a formal wedding?

Barathea is the cloth that hey make PC's from, they also make Argyll's from it it is wool. Here is what wikipedia says:

Barathea, sometimes spelled barrathea,[1] is a soft fabric, with a hopsack twill weave giving a surface that is lightly pebbled or ribbed.[2] The yarns used cover various combinations of wool, silk and cotton. Worsted barathea (made with a smooth wool yarn) is often used for evening coats,[3] such as dress coats and dinner jackets, in black and midnight blue. Silk barathea, either all silk, or using cotton weft and silken warp, is widely used in the necktie industry.[1]

Thanks. So would what I'm wearing in my profile photo properly be called a Barathea? I had ordered it as an Argyll.

It looks like it, Black with Silver buttons.

I chose tweed in the poll, but since the groom is wearing a morning suit I Think a black Argyll with a waistcoat and conservative silk tie is better.

Great! I just bought a nice green silk tie to go with my kilt.

To be honest I probably wont be able to make up my mind between my new diced hose and my tartan hose tops with plain leg which are currently being made!

I second this! I'm escourting my gf to a wedding in Minneapolis at the end of Oct. Historically, I'd just wear a suit and be done but with my chaotic work schedule (read: no exercise in the past few months) and my slow emersion into wearing kilts - I figure this is a perfect time to break it out and try it out since I will know no one. (read: I'm pretty shy).

I'm going with the the family tartan (Maclean) for kilt (and probably tie) with tweed jacket. If I can pick up a matching vest, I'll wear that too. I'm sure I'll be posting pictures of possible outfits soon enough! As for the general attire of the attendees - I'm not sure. I'm guess it will be a mix of very casual to suit and tie. I'm having my gf check on that and potentially adjust accordingly.
