    As a general rule civilians do not wear hackles. It was always said, that if a black hackle was worn then there was a long standing and unsettled feud,of a serious kind, was going on with some one.

    I seem to recall that "The Cameronians" wore a black hackle, perhaps I am wrong. I also remember one Commando unit wore a black hackle, they also had a bit of an issue with Mr Hitler at the time!
