Paul, that's definitely the right idea, although I'm not 100% convinced that that's really the right style. The shoe looks to have a fairly long and pointed toe; I'm not sure that they would look as elegant worn with the kilt as they might worn with trousers. I think a more blunt toe-- rounded or square-- might look slightly more appropriate. Since it is hard to make a judgement call from a photograph, I'd suggest you try them on with your kilt to see how they actually look.
That said, I did like you green shoes...
