    Beaufort is a sweet little town and well worth a visit. It's one of our favorite day trips from Savannah. Thanks for sharing those great pics!

    Thank you everyone for such nice complements. That was our second trip and we will make a few more i hope. Traveling in ones own 100 mile radius can be quite fun.

    It is great that you have your son in tartan dungarees - getting him used to the tartan at an early age can only be a good thing!

    You are so right. Here in the UK, people fly off to Spain for their holidays, or have weekends in Paris or Brussels - but they know nothing about their local history and environment.

    Nice story! And as the original Mr. Rhett was his uncle, presumably he was simply using his mother's maiden name. It wasn't like there weren't plenty of other Smith's in the world!
