I am very excited, as you can imagine. Here's what the tartan looks like on a real person (photo is of a kilt by Matt):

    A closeup of the tartan:

And here's my grandson about 6 months ago wearing one of my bonnets:

The bonnet has nothing to do with my new kilt, but he is awfully cute.

I am planning to purchase some brick red hose for this kilt, and probably some black traditional flash ties.

I'm going to look smashing. Well, I'm going to look as good as I can. Ha.

That's a 4yd box-pleat that Matt sewed up for me out of HW fabric woven by Ken Dalgleish. To my knowledge there are four different runs of this tartan out there:

Lochcarron weaves it in 11oz. (that's what the photo of the swatch above is)
HOE weaves it in 13oz., but the colors are much darker and really just shades of brown, vice gold.
Fraser and Kirkbright did a run of it, I think in their HW, which seems to be lighter weight than HW from other mills.

BTW, I believe I have a kilt length of the Dalgleish fabric packed away, if someone is interested in purchasing it. We're in the process of moving, so it wouldn't be available until December, but would be well worth the wait, since I'm not sure that Dalgleish has it on hand currently.

    Cordially,

    David

    If you've got some kilt-length tartan available - I'd be interested - it's a beautiful tartan - and my family's from there.

    Cheers,

Nice looking tartan. Look forward to seeing the kilt when it's done.
