Freedom kilts do make tartan kilts with front slash pockets that are pretty much hidden. Admittedly I've not seen one of his tartan kilts but in my canvas FK the front pockets are hidden in the pleats. I really have no use for my cargo pockets on my FK, to be honest they are there more for rugged decoration than function. I'd just hate to stuff bulky items in there and have them look like saddlebags or my wife's ever-expanding hips (yes, I went there people!). As innovative as the front slash pockets on my Freedom Kilt is also the back double welt pockets as opposed to the rear cargo pocket. All that is seen on the pleats are two pocket flaps but a lot of bulky items (eg. a wallet before a kilt purchase) as the pocket falls at the bottom curve of the buttocks which allows the pleats to still fall virtually straight down from your hip measurement. This also allows some movement of that wallet when seated, how many men suffer physical detriment from sitting on a wallet in jeans?
Freedom Kilts are in my opinion the epitomy of kilt pocket design. Proper placement and intelligent design.
