I keep waiting for that little one with the fiddle to poke somebody's eye out with the end of the bow while she's dancing around.

We watched a little bit of the new show last night, Songs from the Heart. Is it me or are the vocals in this show recorded. They sound so studio-like. The whole thought of it kind of spoiled the moment and 30 minutes in, we were watching something else.

It's definitely not prerecorded. At least not at their live shows (and I'm very confident not on what they show on PBS).

The reason I think it's prerecorded is that there is no wind noise, no mic-moving-against-something noise, and no fluctuation in the voice as the singers dance and move.
Maybe it's not prerecorded. If that's the case, then they're far more talented than I thought!

That little one is dangerous! Several times during the live show, I was fearful for the other musicians on stage. She nearly took out the uilleann piper's head off a few times. She's like an insane muppet or something.

I do believe the vocals are recorded, and I'm tempted to believe the fiddling is, too. However, the novelty of the "Celtic Woman" shows is so strong that I always enjoy watching them. The "Songs from the Heart" has some new singers, which were very good, as always.
This is pledge drive week for PBS, so, as mentioned before, it'll be on again.

I tend to think the vocals are NOT lip synced. I have some hearing lossand I use lip reading to supplement my hearing for voices in noisy environments. As a resukt, even the slightest mis-timing of voice and lip movement is very jarring to me. I don't get that at all with Celtic Woman. I believe the concert recording quality is a cut above the usual, which makes it sound less like in concert and more like a studio recording.
Not only are their voices wonderful, they have some great backup musicians. I love their drummers.
And as a man who appreciates a nice pair of shoulders on a woman, I love the costumes.
