    B&S Kilts-Anyone have a casual?

I saw the earlier post of someone buying a kilt from B&S, and that sent me to their web site to take a look. I was EXTRMEMLY impressed with their casual selections in different weights and rarer tartans. Even though my store is making them, I have no problem supporting other businesses! Does anyone have a review of these kilts (Their casual line-They're regular kilts are really incredible!). They have an O'Saffron tartan in 16OZ casual that I'm REALLY wanting!

Here's the most recent review by KiltedBrewer. I recently got the same and with Sir William posted on this thread. As I said its a great value, not a handmade but its a great kilt for the money. I definitely will get others.

Just did a search of comments on B&S kilts click here.

I have one as well. The best kilt I have owned up until this point. However, I have never had a true 'tank' (as it is called on here), so I don't have much to compare it to. With that in mind, I think it is well made and a great buy.

    Hey Josh:

I got a B&S casual in Drummond of Perth 16 oz. Locharron last year a bit after Christmas. It's a nice kilt and a pretty good value for the money. As mentioned by others, it's a machine stitched kilt, but it's top stitched (unlike, say, the "Bobilishious" kilts), so the stitching shows. All in all, not a bad deal, and they do have some interesting tartans available.

As Mael mentioned above, I got a Gunn modern in 16oz and I'm very impressed with the quality for the price. I can easily recommend them.

The casual kilts we sell at the Scottish Tartans Museum are made by the same people who make the ones at B&S, and I can tell you that they are the most well-made casual kilts I've seen. Very good construction. I especially recommend the heavy weight cloth, though, with any lower-yardage kilt.

I got my one and only casual 5 yd (Burnetts-Struth) kilt a little over a year ago when they had their standing sale at $199 with only the 16 oz select tartans, plus they had sent out a 20% off coupon, so with the exchange rate then and shipping it still came out around $160. For that price I think it is hard to beat, as long as you can find a tartan you desire. They do occasionally add new tartans and discontinue others, presumably as bolts of material get used up. My kilt fits great, is far lighter than my other kilts (by more than 40%), but definitley has a different build with a shorter body and over all less tailoring and detail work. They are machine sewn. Only problem I had was with them getting the ordered tartan correct---I ordered right as they were changing over from their old web site to their new/current one. The old web site listed Weathered MacDonald Strome which is what I ordered, but the new website listed Weathered MacDonald of Glengarry, which is what I got. It took them a month but they made good and I got my Weathered Clan MacDonald, and it looks great. Not the same look, feel or swoosh as an 8 yard, but a quality casual kilt and a great value for the money.

I did just get another discount coupon from them the other day for 15% off but also noticed that it specificall excluded its use on their sale casual kilts, so no help there.
