    From a purely semantic viewpoint I must grant Grant with a "lift". It remains to be seen if a proper "check" ever materializes.

    Now that I have expanded my personal lexicon, it appears that I have been "Grant-ed" on a number of occasions!

    Congratulations Grant. You are now the namesake of an actual event. Your fame enshrined in our corner of cyberspace.

    Jock, you caved in too early on the state/province thing. In your original post, you never defined state as a geographical region or mental awareness/capacity. The capital "S" could have been a rare type-o.

    Oh I thought I would humour the poor delusion-ed fellow, as he has to suffer the crushing disappointment of failing in his lifetime ambition of having a kilt lift.
