Congrats on the new kilt! I wore my new USAK casual with the full family for the first time today. They got used to it quickly and I've got a cousin who's interested in finding a kilt for himself.
As for basting stitches: my casual didn't come with any and when I washed it last week I had no problems. I washed it in cold water on the gentle cycle and then hung it up to dry. Simply running my fingers down the pleats made them look as good as new. Incredible!

I've had a USAK casual just over 2 years, and have not had to press it yet! In fact, I don't recall ever using an iron with any of my USAKs.

Got a one of USA's American Heritage tartans in trade and it came yesterday. What an awesome first tartan. Feels like it should be twice the price. Don't get any ideas Rocky- George

Mine swing freely. I would suspect yours would work that way too, however, if in doubt, contact your sporran maker and confirm.
Congratulations on a good looking kilt.
