Hey, Turpin. Would that kilt be worn at mid rise? It looks lower than traditional, maybe even low enough to be at pants level. How do you get a kilt maker to do that? Just tell them to make a shorter length? Wouldn't that muck up the hang?

Not sure what you mean. I wear it so that the top of the belt is hitting right about at my navel, so it has about a 1.5 inch rise. That's how it came from Matt Newsome, and I gave him nothing but my measurements taken per his instructions.

I don't think it's fair to make the assumption that just because someone is in Scotland that they wouldn't have any interest in box pleats. Just for the record, I've had orders for my box pleated kilts from Scotland...

I didn't include pleats because it's a box pleat kilt and therefore likely of little or no interest to the Scottish members.

I'm the one who made Turpin's kilt. It's a four yard, box pleated kilt, made from Lochcarron's 16 oz strome tartan cloth.

Here are the measuring instructions I have people follow when they submit measurements to me.
 http://kilts.albanach.org/measure.html

I make the kilts with a 2" rise, plus or minus, unless the client specifies otherwise.

When I wear mine, my belly button falls about the middle of my belt buckle (assuming I'm wearing a belt!).

Those weathered kilts of Turpin and Ron's are blinking lovely. I'd go with that shade Jock. I'm hankering for a weathered B/W which is the same without the yellow stripe. Be a while before I start another kilt buy though. Not unless I fancy living in a tent.

That's what I'm wondering too. I mean, any excuse to buy a new kilt is a good one, but I'm just trying to figure out why the old one is no longer usable. If it's just because it's dirty, well, that's no reason to ditch it! It can be washed.
