Now you're talking. Black walnut's my favorite wood, and my brother is installing a floor of it in his house.

Very fine carving. Thanks for posting it.

    Beautiful!

I too like Black Walnut. In fact I have a roughed out rifle stock in English Black Walnut to eventually be used for an 18th century German jaeger rifle project

That sounds very cool. I'd like to see that.

You do good work. I have a walnut nut in my truck, just waiting to find a good place to plant a tree.

Ya Wally Cat, those walnut husks also have a chemical in them that can prevent other plants from growing, and the mess could become a big problem for the lawn. Plant very carefully.

On the other hand, it is very nice wood...

I used to have a Les Paul guitar made of walnut, with a black walnut fingerboard. It's not ABW, but still very nice.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

I'd suggest planting it in a pot, and when it grows into a sapling big enough to transplant, plant it for good in the woods somewhere. As it grows up and bears nuts of its own, the squirrels will "plant" them all over the woods and in several years they'll have a new walnut grove and permanent food supply.
