I voted OK but not the glossy type for this reason:

I bought a tie which matches the red in my kilt quite nicely but look at this photo:




The tie looks fuschia!! It's because the sun caught it just so, and it's shiny.

The tie is actually exactly the same colour as that bagcover, but you wouldn't know it.

That made me realise that a shiny tie only matches the kilt in certain light conditions.

Here's the tie I've worn for many years. It's not shiny and it always matches my kilt and bagcover:




But recently that tie just wore out! (I've been wearing it since the 1980's.)

So when I went shopping for a new tie I was aware of the shine factor, and bought a matte wool tie.

Sorry Jock, I know you dont' care for all this "matching colours" stuff. I did wear, for many years, my RSCDS regimental style tie regardless, which more reflects how they dress in Scotland I think.
