I see by one of the more recent stories in the press that these good folks have contacted Craig Ferguson and asked if he would get involved.
God save those poor school admins if Craig starts up on them!

Apparently not. The press may have gotten it wrong, as I was just on FB and Hamish denies that anyone from his family has been in contact with any talk show...
Nonetheless, it does seem that this story keeps picking up steam and has attracted media attention from just about every major Canadian daily newspaper, and his Facebook page certainly has international support.

I posted to his facebook. If he wears the kilt under his Robe who is going to know anyway? He was told he could wear it to the after graduation dinner, so what is the big deal?????

I wondered about this myself. Hereabouts we wear a gown closed at the front. Do our neighbors wear them open?
I've seen in UK films, university faculty going about their daily educational business with a gown open in front. However I don't know whether it's closed for ceremonial purposes. Can anyone enlighten us?
