Our member JSFMACLJR mentioned the MacLean of Duart of the 236th OS Battalion CEF. I read the linked article and it appears that this unit never fought as a unit, but was broken up as drafts for other units when it reached France in March 1918.
I wonder how many other such short-lived Scottish units there have been.

In a similar thread I was asked to post photos of these regiments wearing their kilts. This I have done & thought I'd also post them here in case anyone misses it.
Of the regiments listed in the article in my original post, I'm missing 5 of them.
They are:
The Lanark & Renfrew Scottish
The New Brunswick Scottish
The Perth Regiment
The Pictou Highlanders
The Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Highlanders
I believe that most of these 5 were deactivated some while back, though I do know that at least one (& I can't recall which) is now some sort of artillery unit.
I believe I have a WW1 era photo of the New Brunswick Scottish, I'll check my files tomorrow/ later in the day.
If anyone has a photo of a kilted uniformed member of one of the 5 missing units above, then please feel free to post it here. Thanks.
I've chosen to try to stay away from photos of pipers if at all possible & post the dress uniforms (w/ kilt) of the enlisted troops or officers.
I hope you all enjoy

Canadian regiment tartans
The Lorne Scots do not wear Campbell of Argyll, but Campbell. Its like Black Watch but in lighter colours. The A and S in the UK wore this tartan until 20 years ago I believe. The Marquess of Lorne - who married a daughter of Queen Victoria, was a Governor General of Canada in the 1800s, and "Lorne" was a popular name for boys here for many years.
And the Toronto Scottish - who modelled themselves after the London Scottish - who I believe vanished after WW1, call their tartan "Hodden Grey."
It is quite plain - a brownish grey without any pattern at all.
Great photos in this thread.
Readers should also know that despite lots of keenness these are not large units - they muster 200 on a good night. Many of the soldiers have served in Afganistan, but I very much doubt any of these reserve units would ever go into battle as a formed unit. They're just too small. What these soldiers do add when mixed with regulars are often some rare civilian skills - particularly amongst the officers.
