The reason I'm mentioning it is that my neck (and face) got a little burnt at the Moira Country Fair on Sunday last and I'm planning to go to the Cornhill Games near Banff on Saturday and was thinking that a cravat may protect the neck - sunscreen on the visog, but I hate the feeling of sunscreen on bits that rub on clothes - neck/collar, wrist/cuffs, knees/kilt edge etc.
Of course I could always wear a wide brimmed hat but they don't look quite right with a kilt. Perhaps I'll go with the Pith helmet.

The 'Eathen in his idleness bows down to wood and stone,
'E don't obey no orders unless they is his own,
He keeps his side arms awful,
And he leaves them all about,
Until up comes the Regiment and kicks the 'Eathen out.
