Short story: It's here! It's great! It swishes!

    Long story:

A couple of days after I had ordered the kilt, the Scotland Kilt Company contacted me by email, informing me very politely that they didn't have the 34 inch kilt in stock any more, but they did have a 38 inch kilt of the same tartan and wool. The maker had discontinued the line and they only had one kilt of that sort left, and if I thought 38 inches would be too large for me, they would refund all my money.

As my actual size is around 36 inches, I answered that I would take the kilt, for I knew I could move the strap buckle myself or ask my wife to do it, to make the kilt fit me better.

On Thursday last week, I got an email that my kilt had been despatched. Yesterday it had arrived at our post office. This morning I went to get it.

I took the kilt out of the parcel, and tried it on. It was a bit too big even with the straps tightened all the way. So I detached the overapron buckle - there's only one buckle on either side - and moved it a short way toward the back of the kilt and used my Husqvarna to sew it back on under the lining. Then I tried it on, and it fit very well, and there's a lot of room for me to grow, as I know will happen in the winter.

Then I took out my camera, which informed me that the battery is exhausted. So, no pics yet. Instead, I went out for a walk with my kilt and my dog. So far, the kilt feels great - and quite different from my cotton kilts, which also are very nice to wear.

The bottom line: I got no mind-blowing experience, but a piece of clothing I know I will wear a lot and enjoy very much.

The next post will contain pictures and more details of the kilt. Thanks for your interest!

Congratulations to your new kilt. Mine from The Scotland Kilt Company has three straps, your kilt only two. Obviously it it not the same kilt and that you should be happy for.

    Do post some pics.
