Maybe kilts, maybe plaid trousers?
Interesting that a recently formed pipe band here has adopted the Wallace tartan. I wonder if the band's organisers were aware of the historical connexion.
Hence why in an earlier post I said that the details of the Wallace Guard's uniform are "sketchy", Richard.
This sort of thing happened quite a bit when I was participating in living history -- a primary source such as a journal or diary would give just a snippet about a particular units kit, uniform, weapons, etc., but would never go into detail to satisfy a living historian -- of course, how many of us describe our clothes in great detail today in writing?
