Ferguson Britt Bobcat Sporran Question...
To Matt and the rest of the rabble -
I just love the look of the FB Bobcat sporran. I noticed on your website that there are leather choices of black or brown. It seems that the brown leather really compliments the fur beautifully, but my husband generally only wears black leather.
So the question is...would black leather with the bobcat fur look totally off?
And since I hope this to be a gift...if he sees this I expect everyone to agree with me when I tell him my laptop was stolen out of my hands while X-marks and STM were up on the browser windows! <wink wink>
Thank you for any and all opinions
Melissa

I am not a color coordinator by any means. I got this very bobcat sporran in black leather. I like the black leather against my blue-green Lamont tartans. It is very well constructed and I just love it.

Brown or black, I'm sure your husband will be thrilled with such a wonderful gift!
While the brown softens the overall look a little, the black isn't harsh. If your husband is more comfortable with black leather, order that. It will also match all of his existing accessories (so that way he won't have an excuse to order new belts and straps)

Any chance you have a photo, Oldhiker? I'd love to see the black leather a little more "in person" so to speak.
Thank you, and Artificer, for your thoughts thus far!

I don't recall if it was OldHiker's sporran or not, but we had a bobcat sporran come through rather recently with black leather and it looked stunning.
Here's one we had in the shop recently that is the same model as the one I have in brown leather (the Inverarnan, which I like for its very wide opening), but made in black.

Thanks so much, Matt! Indeed the black looks very good with it.

For what it's worth, I have a FB in black leather and muskrat. The black leather is supple, very high quality and is not 'plasticy', stiff and fake-looking like some leather finishes can appear. I am EXTREMELY pleased with my purchase and would recommend a FB sporran to anyone. Black leather as a surround to a lighter fur would be stunning. If black leather is what your husband usually wears, go for it. However, either brown or black will be a home run - FB sporrans are incredible!

that indeed is my sporran
Matt has the other half, I am still curious if mine is the half jumping over the fence first or second, if you get my drift. haha
The worksmanship is wonderful and a beauty to behold
