Hi, Sandy – the one question you haven’t answered is what animal the sporran was made from. azwildcat suggested beaver – is that a correct assumption?
I really like your cromach.
The officers in my regiment carried ashplants (typical, I suppose), and I once had a rather nice crooked walking stick in cherrywood (with bark). But charity required that I give it to a disabled clergyman.
The one stick I have that looks rather good is made of yellowwood and has a knob on it, but it is nowhere near the length of a cromach.
Regards,
Mike

In the first picture I would have to say that it is time to mow the lawn. I also noticed that it appears that there might be an infestation of chickweed. The second picture the grass just seems to be stressed from traffic, a week or two it should recover. Other than that, everything else looks rather sharp.
P.S. I really like you sporran.

It's an otter, Mike.

On the question of where to wear the sporran:
As I have said, I usually have my sporran a bit higher, as may be seen from these pics:

I do like red hose, Matt! If one ascribed strictly to the "hose matching a colour in the tartan" school, MacLeans would have a bit of a challenge! Green, black, and white. I have found that almost any colour of hose ( with the obvious exception of white ) works with Maclean hunting tartan. I do not wear black hose, but almost all greens, reds, pinks, purples, most blues, greys, browns, yellows...even Fair Isle all "work".

Now it all falls into place.
We have a most interesting otter on our southern coast, called the Cape clawless otter. It is on the endangered list, so I won’t be looking to have a sporran made from it . . . on the other hand, one might by remote chance become available by legal means.
By the way, I like your style in bonnets.

Mike

Everything is very nice and has a very authentic feel to it, I could use that word. Only thing that turned me off a little was the colour of the garter ties, doesn't seem to match to me.
We have otters were we live and I can't say I could ever wear a sporran made out of one of those furry little chaps ;)

Hmmm, I was going to start a thread asking what to do with a blanket pin, other than sticking it in your apron or horse accessories, but I guess that answers the question. Thanks.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…
