Mark,
So, do you go to "Feast" (Feast of the Hunters Moon) ?
I was thinking of attending this year.
Cheers,
Ken

[QUOTE=Piper;905990]Just a tip, although maybe you've tried it already. Boil the horn in oil. Something I picked up a couple of years ago at the Horner's Convention in Williamsburg. You can get it hotter than you can in water, so there's less risk of cracking. The other thing is to use a form inside the horn when you press it to keep it from going concave on the sides. Almost any work on a horn is best done outside. QUOTE]
I have done the oil-peanut oil. My first turned out like a french fry. The second, not so bad-but the thick parts are devily. On the form, yup-that's how I mushed this one (note the flats on the bottom)...worked well. Was wondering how they did it back then, at the time-can see a bunch of good ol' boys standing aboot a cauldron, sayin' "Is e' done YET?"...

Haven't been to that one, but I AM a professional eater...Kansas's Gatherin' was my last feasting, at Beltine.
Where about is it located?

You can google it or try www.tcha.mus.in.us it's in West Lafayett Indiana, not far for you compared to me in Stratford On.
It's one of the largest rendesvous I know of, my daughter has been a couple of times with a brigade out of Ohio. In the eighties we did the Voyaguer thing, but I've never had the chance to go that one.
This is Battle of Tippecanoe area and there'll be lots of military.
I still winter camp flint & steel style and make most of my gear.

Looks like a good time. Rather tied to my job (fortunately) this year, combined with an educational side road, but my next year may be a little better, schedulewise.
I tend to be a tad "too" politically sensitive-given the post-Culloden Oath, wearing a kilt among large numbers of English has made me nervous in the past...So I generally revert to the Longhunter side. Keeps me out of the noose.
