    Hi Zack
Well first off, you are going to need the "real deal" wool in tartan if you want to sleep in it and be authentic so prepare for the cost of the real wool. It will be worth it in the long run but it won't be cheep.
Depending on where you are in Arizona (my family is from Tombstone and I know it snows there) depends on what weight you want for your great kilt.
If you are tooling around for the day a 13 oz. or less might work but for sleeping in the wilds I would advise 16 oz.

I am a bit wet behind the ears in regards to the history, despite my "ancient warrior" youtube vid watching. How did the ancient Scots do it if it costs so much? Perhaps it was just one of their main purchases of a lifetime, or something? I just want something I can use for its intended purpose, rather than for it's appearance, I guess haha. Thanks so much for trying to decipher my odd request!

    Zach,
If you intend to use your kilt as bedding, you might consider a great kilt. It's a single, unpleated piece of fabric. The drawback is that it takes you longer to get dressed and if it rained during the night, your kilt needs to be laid out in the mud in order for you to put it on.

That is essentially what I am desiring, the issue is the price...and my size haha.
