Anyone watch the movie Joyeux Noel, Christmas Truce 1914. When the padre sits down to play the pipes, a soldier giving up his seat, I think he said something about the 92nd Div. My cousin twice removed, was with the 92nd Div, 3rd attached to the 2nd battalion with the Argyll Sutherland Highlanders, which I have the badge and Glengarry cap, killed 1916. I would post a picture of him but dont see on forum how to download photo.

I really like that film (somewhere there is a thread about it). My favorite scene is the one you mention....yes, it's the 92nd that "loaned a spare set of pipes"...as matter of fact if you look close in the scene, the kilted pipers are all wearing A&SH cap badges.
p.s. - nice cap badge Brian

I just finished a very good book by Tim Newark titled " Highlander The history of the legendary Highland soldier".. It gives very good detail how the regiments began and how they eventually consolidated and transformed into the units seen today in the British Army. I seem to remember a mention of a generic Highland Regiment but could not go right to the chapter just now. The units went through some interesting variations once the consolidations began. I highly recommend the book.

The Scottish regiment in the movie was The Royal Scots -- as Terry mentioned, there were Argyll pipers as well.
Oh good grief...yes I did mean that. I even was looking at the DVD cover when I typed that post.

Lol, no worries as I had to double check myself if it was "Scots" or "Scot" even though I should know that.. but you were still 2/3 correct as was even though a different regiment, hey..
