As I was very curious and the situation concerned me (as a supplier for this brand of jacket, not as the person who SOLD THIS jacket), I contacted the manufacturer. This was the response directly from the owner who I know personally:

"Yes, we toyed around with doing some China made imports and had a few samples made up. They weren't up to our standards and were never supposed to be sold. If any of these have leaked out into the general marketplace, it was by complete accident. Please have the customer contact us directly and we'll arrange for him to return it to us and send him a UK MADE replacement immediately."

I wanted to figure it out for myself and figured I could explain things to another who needed an explanation. It's what I would like someone to do for me if the roles were reversed. Golden rule and all that...

Richard... I'm surprised you found fault with your prior jackets. As I stated, jackets are one thing I've never had issues with (aside from "UK vs. US Sizing" issues, which is easily remidied by ordering 1 size up). Whatever way you go, I wish you luck and hope you get the quality jacket you're looking for.
