I'd rather see regular Chuck's / Purcels or regular brogues. The mix, in my opinion, looks kinda cheap and tacky.

I've seen more than a few kilties wearing a traditional kilt with chucks and pulling it off really well.

I also saw someone pull off some lovely brother creeper brogues/wingtips once.

Those are pretty cool. Where would a pair be found?

How about a set of canvas high-top or oxford Keds in your clan tartan? Check out zazzle.com... for example:

    http://www.zazzle.com/black_stewart_...28073130549403

They have quite a variety of merchandise you can have printed with clan/family crests or tartans, but the shoes are awesome! You can even customize the color of the laces, eyelets, trim, lining, toe, etc.

Not a clue. I just did a search for rockabilly brogues to find a picture similar.

Chucks/converse are all I ever wear with my Cilts. I have them in a range of colours and have several high chucks as well.
    Here some pics

I wore my black leather chucks with my Heritage of Scotland kilt to a New Years party. Then again, that is typical of my attire when I go out of the house. The only real difference for NYE was I wore a dress shirt and Star Wars tie.
