Wooden blimp substitute
While I'm neither here nor there on the disposition of the wooden blimpie-thing, I noticed that there has been some discussion about a possible substitute totem item to replace it in the hearts and minds of Xmarksers.
I would propose a banner, not unlike a clan banner, that could be schlepped around to various places and events. I would suggest that this be something not unlike the quilts used by other organizations which would be added to at ever stop; some signatures, embroidery, a patch, a swatch of tartan...etc. If anyone is familiar with the "gypsy robe" tradition on Broadway, something like that.

Possibly a new blank banner that's designed to be added to or a piece of the Xmarks tartan. I know that there has been discussion of there not being any sort of "official" representation of Xmarks at any given events like Highland Games but I'm sure that something could be worked out...we're not so much an organization as we are a sort of support group, after all...
...whatever: it's obviously time to move on and not beat the disposition of the previous totem item into the ground...

How about just a nice logbook? one big enough to insert some photos in, but still small enough not to cost a fortune to mail. I don't recall the flagship ever making it to our area, although Arlen did get it down south. Whoever fills the last page of the logbook is charged with returning it to the mods, where it could be transcribed to a sticky with photos, and sending out a new logbook.

What about Harpenden last year? I suppose I just imagined all that planning and organising and sheer hard work.

Wasn't there, so I wasn't aware of your efforts...what I was thinking of was a thread(s) a while back where it was suggested that there be some kind of Xmarks banner or whatever as a rallying point for Xmarksers and wherein it was dismissed by the (previous) administration for various reasons...reasonable reasons, to be sure, such as "if we're gonna do that, won't we be considered a clan and have to rent space at these games just like all the other clans" and the fact that, as I remember it, the previous forum owner actually owned/had copyrighted the term "Xmarksthescot". Any of the other old timers, please feel free to correct me if I'm way off on this history but it's really kind of immaterial at this point anyway...
Anyway, since I unknowingly started a parallel thread, please let me redirect the conversation here:
