A point of clarifcation and one often misunderstood: Jacobean and Jacobite are not the same thing.
The former refers to the period covered by the reign of JamesVI/I (1603-25).
Jacobites were supporters of the House of Stuart during various risings (1688-1745) that aimed to get a (Catholic) Stuart King back on the throne.
