I am not going to be using an actual tartan, that's why i have kilt quoted. I am going to buy some cheap tartan looking fabric at a fabric depot near by, but what I am wonder is how to convern the fabric, quickly and cheaply, into somewhat decent kilts only needed for about 3 days. I guess I just need quick help with some quick pleating, etc...

Any quick and to-the-point info would be grand, thanks in advance mates!

Hmm.. TO be honest, I think the time and effort you will spend to sew something half-a$$ed will not be worth the outcome... It won't look good, and you'll spend a long time doing it to boot.

Personally, if I were to pay myself for my time spent doing it, I would get a FAR better bargain just ordering a set of 9 thrifty kilts from Stillwater, or even some Gold Bros. kilts (yeah, yeah, I know).

Edit: Just checked Stillwater's website. A Thrifty kilt can be had for $28.95. Cheap as Borsch! And you have a real kilt... In a real tartan... Surely you can't beat THAT.

Result: Everyone will look GREAT, the kilts will last a LOT longer than 3 days, you may end up with some kilt converts from your groomsmen, who may actually start wearing one, and even if no one does, they will have some resell-ability on eBay or Craigslist or similar.

If you just whack something together from some plaid cloth.... I guarantee it'll take time, won't look right, and when it's all over and done with, it'll just get chucked in the trash (because you sure won't want to wear it again, and the re-sell-ability will be nil).
