Not a coincidence after all, Jock, although our fathers quite obviously shared good taste. My ram pin is Edinburgh hallmarked for 1957 to Shetland Silversmiths. I'm told the firm began in 1953 and is still operating under the name Shetland Jewellry. I'm also told that there is considerable wear on one side of mine and of course that will be the side that's showing in the photo The latter years of the 50s does seem to fit with when my father might have acquired it.

This is what I wear, pretty much all the time.

I am all about the sparkly things. I also like the option of changing my mind depending on my mood. Sometimes I look for pendants, buttons or just about anything that strikes my fancy and see if I can make a pin out of it.

First one is a standard thistle sword you can get anywhere. Picked up the middle one while visiting with Sydnie7 in SOCAL (two more different pins coming later) of the National defense ribbons. The one at the end is a new acquisition from Alexis Malcolm.

There is a twisted thistle pin that is on one of the kilts somewhere but here is a pick from their catalog -

Just put this one together from my junk box. It gets held on with a neodymium magnet.

So now lets see how many know what that symbol is from.

So, unable to find a decent kilt pin that wasn't the average run of the mill Sword or the like, or one that suited me personally I took to using two of my Command Badges.
Eventually, I'll make a Kilt pin out of a Black Watch of Canada Cap Badge, Once I acquire another that looks just as my Grandfathers. As well as an EME Branch Cap Badge. For now, here are a couple pictures. Once I get them onto some Tartan I'll change up the pictures.
Military Personnel Command.

And
Land Force Command.
