First Kilt, Am i wearing everything properly?

The outfit looks great. Just two points:

1) I agree that the sporran is too low. Depending on what you put in there, it's going to go down all on its own. Start high.

What do you mean by running? Just the emergency hop when you're late for class, or do you plan to race in it? If the latter, put it to the side on your hip, or skip it all together till after the race.

2) I don't see your flashes. You might have them too far back. I think the usual advice here is 10:00 and 2:00.

Now the crucial element.... what tartan is it, and where did you get it?

I didn't invest in flashes, which is why they can't be seen. When i say running, i mean through a park etc. I've adjusted everything so that my kilt is at the right height, it's a lil big so its tough. sporran chains have been adjusted.

Just got my first kilt in the post today. I'm concerned about how high the sporran is, for when i try to run it does its *flopp flopp* thing.

Ya' know....that's JUST the look of confidence we caber tossers are known to have at times. Like I always say, "nothing matches a new kilt better than a caber!" You should giv'er a go when you can sometime.

Go for it!!! I'd be out there tossin' cabers, but I'm all jacked up. I'm one week out of a brace from knee surgery and have an appointment on monday to see if they're going to stitch up my hernia for a second time or just wait for me to unzip like a prom dress. Big whoop. I've sucked up worse. I'm not gonna throw big chunks of wood, but I have work to do and a family to take car of. I'm old and tattered. You're young. Live it up. Go play with the big boys!! It's fun. But don't over-do it...you'll pay for that.

Seriously though, go to the games and give it a go. They won't let you kill yourself. If you think you have to be big to play ask Detroitpete!

Two Thoughts(a bit late-mayhap)
Wear the Sporran with a belt, not chain, the chain wears the kilt wool out faster.
Hang the sporran from the waist belt
For my soft waist belt sporran, I have two bar magnets: one inside the front apron, one inside the sporran at the back; - that keeps the sporran from flapping too much.
And yes, show some knee, the kilt seems a bit long.

Aside from everything else mentioned, maybe go with a boot, smarter casual shoe, or less skaterish style shoe. But then again there is a photo of me floating around here playing kickball in a kilt and wearing cleats.
