I don't feel too badly about my red socks staying in the drawer most of the time, they are over 50 years old school socks; never envisualised them as kilt hose. When I need a splash of colour, all I need to do is put on one of my Anderson tartan kilts. There are enough colours in those to match up with just about any hose, but I usually work on the basis of eneough is enough and stick to lovat or blue.
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!

Kilted Frida, Not!
Okay, it’s Monday but my Tenth Anniversary at XMTS. So a Kilted Day it will be for me. The heat wave persists here in Virginny so a USA Kilts casual in XMTS tartan it will be! A busy day ahead. A Board of Directors Meeting this AM and hopefully I can get my HVAC back on line since going off in a severe Saturday afternoon thunderstorm.
I think I’ll end the day Park Lane Tavern.
This year also make it 20 years of kiltedness. I was living in New Jersey, when I started wearing a Sport Kilt after bicycling club rides when we went to the pub. In the late summer, I order from Pipers Cove in Kearney, NJ my Malcolm tank and got all the accoutrements. That fall, I was transferred to Virginia, attended my first Highland Games right here in Fredericksburg, and would find my Clan Society information there.
What a ride!
Let’s see what adventures await, today!

Yesterday's Kilted Friday Not Day started with me greeting some earlier risers at the community's swimming pool with a "Good Morning Gentleman!" And then adding; "Of course I use that term, loosely!"
A quick reply from one them, "you should use that term loosely showing up in a kilt for an Association Board Meeting day!" That PIA is just that on most things here.
My Impromptu Kilt Night at the local snagged one fellow XMARKER to share an evening at the bar enjoying good craic.
The barman even treated the two kilted guys to a round!
Thanks for coming @Crag Forster it was a fun evening!

Casually attired in the Grey Granite PV today with light blue shirt, tan hose, hiking boots and DIY sporran. Contributed to this young man's pipe case during my noon hour walk. We had a quick kilt-appreciative chat.

(I informed him I'd be uploading this)

For my summer Fridays, I've been rotating my stock of casual USA Kilts; Caledonia, Malcolm, Thompson Grey, and XMTS tartans. But for this Friday. Due to a bout of tinnitus, I'm homebound and remaining in my 20 year old comfy Sport Kilt.
Who kilted up this Friday?

Good afternoon,
Ern, I'm sorry about your tinnitus, but it"s good to see that you will be attired appropriately - and comfortably - for a day at home. I hope it's not too long before you can raise a pint at the Tavern.
I will be strapping on my Cameron of Erracht (weathered) this evening for my weekly SCD class in Newcastle NSW. (SCD = Scottish Country Dancing). In fact, that is my kilt of choice for all my dance classes this week. The Cancer Society in Australia does an annual fundraiser called Jeans for Genes, and I stick on a selection of their pins as my kilt pin. I made a pair of flashes that I ripped out of an old pair of jeans, and with blue hose and a blue shirt, I think it's a fun ensemble.
I just wish I was able to master the technology so you too could see the outfit!

Thanks, Grizzled Ian for your kind words.
I was wrong about my stated malady , ringing in the ears that would prevent me to go to work. I should have said head spinning like a top due to vertigo . LOL but as it turned out I felt better enough to go in the morning to do some things that needed to be done at the office. So my run with casual USA kilts continue as I went to work wearing my Caledonia tartan one.
One resident commented that I was properly attired for such a hot day . Indeed!
Back home now relaxing in my SK comfort kilt.

I have been wearing kilts to work on Fridays for a while. Normally nothing special happens those days so I have never posted in the "Friday" thread. Today was different. This was my last day at work. Technically my position was eliminated but I had planned on retiring anyway so it worked out in my favor. Retire with a severance so can't beat that. This was my last day after 30 years. One of my co-workers wore his kilt in to celebrate.

I always wear a kilt to Scottish Country Dancing (SCD) classes. Last night two of us who are preparing for our Unit 2 and 3 exams for SCD teaching certificates next year learned one of the 12 prescribed dances, The Gates of Edinburgh. Last week, it was Alltshellach, a fine dance. No, really it is, but you have to keep your wits about you, and thankfully it's a Strathspey.
Congratulations Mike, and they paid you extra to walk out the door!
Now you can do what you decide, what you enjoy. Any more kilts planned? I don't know if the University of the Third Age (U3A) operates in your country, but that is a good and inexpensive way of finding out about all sorts of different things to learn.
All the best!

A huge congratulations on your retirement
I spent almost 40 years in the bush, logging, on northern Vancouver Island and when my final day came, I never even looked in the rear view mirror as I pulled out of camp onto the main road out of the valley...... I will admit I pulled over after just a few miles...I WAS LAUGHING SO HARD I thought it best to pull over until my excitement passed
Don't get me wrong I had spent a great part of my life in the best part of the best province in the best country in the world, and enjoyed every minute of it but after almost 40 years it was time to move on to new adventures
I still smile when I Think of my last day......and I hope you will too. Once again CONGRATULATIONS!
