Well, let's just say it's... misleading. That was more women than I'd had around me in the preceding two or three years. The truth is I'm rather dull, somewhat pedantic, and more than a little shy. Particularly when it comes to beautiful women.

Sometimes it just takes a while to get young enough to enjoy it.

Sunday as we ate lunch, I was accosted by a lovely red-headed young lady, approximately half my age, who complimented my kilts, remembering correctly that I'd worn a different tartan the previous Sunday, and worked on recruiting us for the Scottish festival in a neighboring county.

It hardly gets any better than that... Good thing my wife was with me.

Girls who work in book stores are some of the best women in the world,
Well read,= Good conversationalists not typically the party girl type.
A Little unusual= Interesting, and not worried about other peoples opinions.
For some reason the also love kilts....

you must chat her up, dont ask her to the Celtic fest, just a cup of coffee or a drink after her shift, will be fine. You have nothing to loose!

Oh Yea what the heck does pedantic mean?

Basically, it means "characteristic of the kind of person who would know the meaning of the word pedantic." Someone like me. A nit-picker. Someone who has to try really hard not to correct mistakes that don't affect the real meaning of the discourse.

or as wiktionary put it in part "Being showy of one’s knowledge, often in a boring manner."

That made me literally laugh out loud, because it's so perfectly true.

The problem is, I'm not as young as all that. And the girl in the bookstore, while maybe not quite young enough to be my daughter, is certainly young enough to be my neice. I've dated a woman half my age before, and while it had its interesting moments....

I did that once. And for the whole evening I kept hearing Steely Dan's "Hey Nineteen" in my head... <sigh>

OK, MacD one last bit of unneeded advice.

Don't think of her as a potential date, but a potential friend (maybe a really interesting person). As Frumious B point out, we males can impress the heck out of ladies by NOT acting like err, needy males. Enjoy the company, what's the worst that could happen?

I don't usually use "dude" as an interjection, but: Dude! maybe she has a sister (or a mom :P )
