My granddad was a Shriner all of my life and I don't know how many years before that. The local temple membership seems to be shrinking from what I understand.
However when I was recently in Alpharetta, GA I happened upon an Old Soldiers Day parade and the local Shriners with all their stuff took probably 20 min of the parade time. And the kids did love it!

Tonight I attended the raising of a Master Mason his name is Dan Hess. He is the father of the Hess Twin, two little girls that when they were 18 months. They were badly burned and became Shriner Kids since than the Shrine Clowns go to thier Birthday Party every year. This pass July they had thier 9th birthday. Dan decided he wanted to give back, and become a Shriner.
This is just one of the GREAT STORIES...

It is GREAT to see some GOOD THINGS re the MANY good works of such a fine and ancient tradition. The pivotal time in my own life came from my time spent as a chaplain in Scottish Rites Children's Hospital.
