Not wearing garters is definitely part of the problem -- the whole point of the garters is to keep the socks up.
However, might I also suggest that your hose are too large? I'm just going by your decription:
They also just dont fit right. They bulge down by my ankles because my foot is not 2 feet long and the sock that is supposed to be on my foot rises up to my ankle.
The ankle of the sock is supposed to be, well... at your ankle. If the ankle of the sock is up on the back of your leg, then you are wearing hose that are too large. which would also tend to make them not want to say up and lead to all the other problems you describe.
Methinks you might have just gotten too large a size.

Matt

I remember as a kid just using elastic bands. Of course, that was a kid. However, there are elastics for hockey socks that might work. I don't like flashes but I think you're pushing the socks' limitations. The Cool Hand Luke thing.

I'll echo the garter ties or flashes comments but as Matt said if the "foot" is above your ankle then these things are just too big.
Good luck.

I'm with Bradley. Just slip the flashes off some flash elastic and use it under the hose...unless the foot is way too big as Matt says....or, he failed to mention his own product that I'm deeply addicted to - the Lewis hose he sells. They have some elastic in them I believe, but would still reccommend elastic band as a back up.
If you need to bulk up I'll send you my daily diet...can you get M&Ms peanuts and pop tarts where you live?

Sounds like Beserk might have my problem...ittybittyfeets
I wear a size 7 1/2 shoe. Even the small adult sock don't fit right, with the heal resting just above the top of the shoe. I usually buy kids socks when I buy athletic socks.
Would buying childrens socks help the fit of ittybittyfeets?

I've ordered one pair of kilt hose from Rocky, and when I did he told me that they run large - based on shoe size I would have ordered a Large, but Rocky talked me down to a Medium, and the Medium fits just right.

EXACTLY what I was going to suggest...

I am with Bradley on this one too. I very seldom wear flashes when going 'casual' but when, at such times, I want to wear my hose pulled up, I wear plain elastic garters. It is just so obvious - but perhaps it's a generational thing. As young lads, we wore short trousers and long socks as part of our year-round school uniform until the age of about 12, and plain elastic garters were an essential part of that kit. Woe betide any boy wearing wrinkled socks!
Since then, I have always had a couple of pairs of elastic garters at the ready.

Oooooooooooohh.....M&M Peanuts.......My Favorite. But back to the topic. I wore my Rocky Socks out last night and all worked well. My Calfs are the size of small tree trunks and can hole the hose with no problem. But I still wear flashes. But have switched to Garter ties. I thank Cacunn for that.
