Ummm, my sense was the thread was a request to brainstorm...though not "officially" so designated.
In coming up with ideas when brainstorming its important to save judgement until the ideas play out. Then, go back and sort through them.
Early judgement brings the process to a screeching halt.
Sadly, what I've found for me is that kilt slogan t-shirts really don't go well with kilts. What seems to work best is some big logo that draws attention to the t-shirt instead of the kilt...I know that doesn't make a lotta sense...its hard for others to read t-shirt slogans without seeming to stare or because the wearer is walking.
Like for me, the back of the X Mark's t-shirt is perfect...it has a huge logo that's easy to see.
Sorry, guess I'm "judging" the whole project now...and I do so love creativity for the process if nothing else.

I'm personally not a fan of t-shirt sayings that try to be funny, by being insulting. IMHO they tell us more about the wearer than the intended reader.
I'm with them
To me one of the very wonderful things about wearing a kilt is that it encourages all sorts of very pleasant and friendly exchanges with others. I have had countless fun little conversations with people about tartans, Scotland, and family histories with strangers while standing in line that I wouldn't have had if I had not been wearing a kilt.

How about this then: "I'm not wearing a kilt, you're just crazy."
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

Some are funny. Some are not. Some are offensive. Most anything could be offensive to somebody. I personally am offended be the "Scottish Tea Bag" T-shirt. You won't find me in one.
That's not the point of this thread.
Keep it clean and fun.
Let's keep it on topic, shall we?

I tried one of these once. I learned my lesson.

That's great!
Maybe lets expand this to include t-shirts to wear (or hats or..?) while not kilted as well...
About my "who cares if I'm Scottish" comment. The way I see it, is that someone assuming that I'm Scottish just because I'm in a kilt is ignorant. I could be Irish. I could be some other nationality. Frankly, it doesn't matter what you are. If you enjoy the kilt, then by all means, wear it!
I wouldn't wear something offensive whilist kilted, however something funny and whitty, like I mentioned earlier, would be fun.
I am Scottish. My G. Grandfather came here (the U.S.) a long time ago. He used to wear a kilt a lot, and the accent left over enough that there was no question where he was from. I used to spend weekends at his place when I was growing up. In fact, I would have his accent when I came home and it would get me into trouble! It still creeps into my vernacular when I get tired or am around it a bit.
The point is, I AM Scottish and proud of my heritage, but I don't see that as a requirement for anyone to wear a kilt.
Hey, how about a shirt with something like the superman "S" but a "K" instead? For....Kiltedman!?
Ha!
Peace, out.
