From a snowy St. Louis, Mo. As to your question about wearing a kilt I say yes. As to your question "Must "my tartan" match the ones of the scottish family?" I shall leave that to the rest of this group as I am not as savy as they are.

Yes, wear a kilt like your friend asked. No, you don't have to choose a particular tartan. There are no laws or written rules about the tartan someone should wear.

There are hundreds of tartans to choose from, like the Scotland's National tartan shown here: http://scottishkilts.net/products/st...ched_kilt.html

The answer is YES! Follow the advice given here. There are tartans for almost any situation and a bunch of universal ones for everything else. Stick around, once you wear it you'll want more.

OK.Thank you. Now that I know that I am allowed to wear it I will ask him more infos about the family and their desires and expectations.

    Third Question:
Should I wear that "nice gadget" called sgian dubh or a in wedding cerimony you should not have "weapons" on you...? ;-)

You didn't date the bride at any time...did you? Just kidding! I typically forego the sgian dubh at religious events (church mostly) but I have seen them at weddings before. I suppose it might come down to what the wedding party thinks.
