Here in Italy it is the "bordeaux" or in Italian "amaranto", but this last one si less used now, much more used Bordeaux as the name of the French city!
It is my preferred colour. One day I will have one kilt in Maroon or Bordeaux!

Heart Of Midlothian is one of Edinburgh's two soccer teams. They wear maroon shirts and Geoffry Tailor market a "Hearts" tartan incorporating maroon.
