Good Luck with the credit card company.
Only once did I need to call Amex with a problem. I got my monthly invoice and saw a hotel had overcharged me by a night. I called the hotel (a national chain of moderate to high quality) and they asked me to "prove" that I had only stayed 2 nights and not 3.
Amex took my word for it, took the charge off and fought with the hotel directly.

Loved Scotland Yard
I have been a customer of The Scotland Yard for over 15 years and have never had any problems. The owner Mr. Ben Fay has always been very polite on the phone and the kilts and products have always been of the finest quality. I have heard that this "Mac" who seems to know so much was a recently terminated employee and that The Scotland Yard is still under ownership of the same family that has had the store from the beginning. It seems to me that people should know the facts instead of listening to just one side of the story.

I recently contacted Ben Fay over this exact type of situation and he fixed it for me.
That's really funny that you mention this. I ordered my 13 ounce kilt from this Ben guy and it was machine stitched. I called to complain and was told the exact same thing. My custom kilt got mixed in with their rental department. Mr. Fay wasn't helpful with me personally. I was a little miffed so I checked out their rental department. It's all Irish National, Dress Gordon, Black Watch, Royal Stewart and I think he rents Saltire too. How exactly did my MacPherson Modern get mixed up with those tartans??? Thats one of the main reasons I want to get my formal kilt from a reputable place. It's not a tartan that looks good with machine stitching. The owner said he was sorry and was willing to send me a free t-shirt. Uh. Thanks.

I ordered a 16 oz, 8 yrd. through Matt Newsome's museum shop and had no problems, so that's always a possibilty for someone looking to get a Lochcarron traditional kilt.

This is a public forum and Mr. Fay can chime in anytime he wants. I'd gladly listen to the other side of the story if it were forthcoming. So far I've only seen the first hand reports of five forum members who have had less than good service. I sure as heck wouldn't accept a machine stitched kilt when I didn't order one.

I am not Mr. Fay. My name is Sandi. If you have a personal vendetta against The Scotland Yard please do not involve me. I was just posting my personal opinion which is what a public forum is for. You are obviously here just to insult people.

As I stated, "This happens sometimes when a hand-made kilt order is accidentally sent to the folks who make their rental kilts", I don't think your tartan "got mixed up with other tartans". A mistake was made and the best thing to do is take the mistake to the source. Additionally, I was merely stating my experiences.

I want to thank everyone personally for their support. I think that maybe this thread is getting out of hand, how about we end it here and get on to something more fun?
