There's a Pipe Band scene in "Patton".
By Choice, not by Birth

Never cared for that movie, especially that scene. Of course, I prefer T.R. Jr. and "Terrible" Terry Allen to Patton myself.

These are all twentieth century examples - I thought "this side of the twentieth century" meant the current one?

Sorry, I guess that wasn't very clear, I meant movies depicting wars that happened anytime after 1900--as in not Braveheart (although I do like that movie, I was looking for something a bit more modern)
Thanks for the suggestions, I can't wait to rent them and force my husband to watch them

There were several kilts visible in The Sand Pebbles; at the first of the movie, a Gordon Highlander is seen leaving the steamer which has taken Jake Holman (Steve McQueen) to his new ship, the USS San Pablo, while in the fight scene between Stawski (Simon Oakland) and the coolie Po-Han (Mako) in the Red Candle at Changsha, there are two members of the Black Watch -- their cap badges and kilts in the Government Sett are distinctly visible.
Regards,
Todd

WOW a woman that likes war movies! My ex would tell me all I cared about was war, killing, blood guts and cops.

I concur. I much preferred the trumpeters and drumhorse in the beginning.

Indeed, but the Naval landing party band in The Wind and the Lion tops them all.
But I digress...

All of the Marines in the scene where they storm the sultan's palace were real, by God, U.S. Marines, and the scene was shot in one take using four cameras. John Milius is almost my god...

How about all the kilts in Breaker Morant? A very good film and one that was not even mentioned in the original War Movie thread. Though it was done in 1980. As for this side of the 20th Century with Trefor's criteria in mind I'm not sure if there are kilts in either of these movies but they are the two I can think of that are recent. The Stone of Destiny (I've not seen it yet) not sure about kilts in it. The other one would be The Legend of the Water Horse, again I've not seen this one, so not sure about kilts in it either.
