    He got the belt from a vendor at Grandfather Mountain selling leather wares. It wraps around through the d-ring, and from there the loose end of the strap could hang down - it's trimmed to go to the hem - but in this case, he's wrapped it around himself again for a tidier look.

    Regards,
    Rex.
    Thanks! I will have to keep my eye out for something similar. I like the idea of a completely adjustable thick belt...

    I had a similar belt, a hundred years ago when I was in college. Two identical ends, no buckle holes, just nicely rounded off and finished. The "buckle" was a wooden circle, probably a drapery ring, stained to just lighter color than the leather. A keeper on each side of the buckle. Looking down at your waist, you would see each end of the belt come to the outside of the wooden ring and loop back through it to the inside, threading through the keeper.

    Hope that makes sense! If not I could probably draw a "top view" given some time. Really nice simple design, the only hardware was rivets in the keepers (hidden inside). You could do the same thing with a rectangle of metal, maybe find something with a Celtic knot in the middle and room enough for the belt on either side. . . hmmm, Tyger Forge? You listening?

    Rex:

    Absolutely kickin'!

    I almost fear to point this out, but the one thing that seems a touch discordant is the hint of the white socks poking out above the boots. Just as a matter of personal preference, I'm no fan of white socks with a kilt. I think the look would work better with darker socks (perhaps black USMC boot socks) or maybe even red soccer or rugby socks so that there's just a hint of a reveal.

    But the main point is, absolutely kickin'.

    He is lucky to be lean enough to pull off the UK with such high cut boots. Looks great.

    Ring Belts are popular ren-faire items, here's a good vendor for them;

    That combination looks good.

    I looked at those boots last winter but never got a pair. I think I still have the link in my "stack of stuff I might find again". My regular boots are 8 or 10" which go well in the summer with the kilt hose pushed down. In the winter I want the hose pulled up for warmth but you are not suppose to wear the boots I have with hose up. In the winter it would be nice to have the boots rather than lower topped shoes. This looks like a solution for some situations. As it is was 49 degrees when I got up this morning I need to take another look at the boots.
