If we'd known that our grandkids were going to be this much fun we'd have gone right past the kids and straight onto the wee ones. They truly are a blessing.

My uncle did just that. (REALLY!)
He got married for the first time at the age of 55 (give or take a year.)
He starts with the grandkids. (To be fair, the natural niece nephew count is only 3, 2 depending on how you want to count it. Either way, he didn't really have to deal with the generation after him at all, and now gets to have the generation after that for fun.)

Blessings for sure
Ah, yes. One 16 months old and another due in 13 days.
This is a quote, and I apologize for not knowing the source:
"Everything we envision as parents, comes to life in a grandchild."
I firmly believe that, but I wouldn't have realized it until one was put into my arms.

The practice chanter can do a mean smoke detector. But even better is when dad is speeding a little bit in the car is alternating D and high A.
It is a bit more realistic on the bagpipes with the drones tapped closed.

And the curse WORKED!!!!!!!!
All you grandparents know which one............I hope whe you grow up you have a child just like you! Introducing my 3 year old grandaughter Athena, hard headed, stubborn, opinionated 30 year old in a 3 year old body. Oh my did it it work, in spades, doubled and redoubled, with loan shark intrest compounded by the nanosecond and the apple of her grandfather's eye! My grandsons are quite the thing. but they can't put a patch on Miss Athena, not by several furlongs they can't

As did I. In fact, my granddaughter was at my wedding reception.
My wife had often observed that the Almighty knew what He was about when he declined to make me a parent. However, the grandfather gig is pretty sweet.

Growing like a weed - this is from his dad's birthday dinner album, so Jake is 5 weeks old.
It is a bit worrying really - talk about precocious. That calculating stare is rather unnerving.
He also appears to be into MUGs.
